When colorectal cancer is caught at an early stage, the chances of complete cure are much higher. That is why it is important to be aware of the warning signs.
Signs you should never ignore
- Blood in the stool, or stool that appears dark/black
- A sudden change in bowel habits — persistent diarrhoea or constipation
- Unexplained weight loss
- Persistent abdominal pain or bloating
- Anaemia and excessive weakness
Do not dismiss bleeding as “just piles.” Anyone over the age of 40 with these symptoms should see a specialist promptly and undergo a colonoscopy if recommended.
